How customers get a quote

  1. Upload a model. Drop an .stl or .3mf file (up to 50 MB) on the shop's quote page. A 3D preview appears right away.
  2. Choose settings. Printer, material, color, layer height, infill, walls, supports and quantity. Each one has an i icon that explains it.
  3. Click "Get quote". The server slices the model with OrcaSlicer, usually in 10 to 60 seconds. You then see the price, print time, filament used and the full cost breakdown.
  4. Request the print. If the price works for you, click Request this print and leave your name, email and any notes. The shop sees the request in its dashboard and contacts you to confirm. Nothing is charged when you request. If the shop takes online payments, you pay its invoice later through the shop's own Stripe checkout; otherwise you pay the shop as arranged. You get a private status link right after sending.

Under the drop box, customers can paste a link to a model file and click Use link. We download the file and quote it exactly like an upload.

What the estimate includes and doesn't include

How accurate is it?

Time and weight are OrcaSlicer's estimates from a real slice with OrcaSlicer printer profiles. Weight is usually very close. Real print time can differ by roughly 5 to 15%, depending on the printer, firmware and model. The shop confirms the final price before it prints anything.

Setting up your shop

  1. Create an account (the Free plan needs no card) with your shop name and a short link name, for example my-shop.
  2. In Shop settings, open Pricing and set your setup fee, markup, minimum order, waste % and electricity price. Every setting has an info icon that explains it.
  3. Under Printers, turn on the printers you own and set an hourly machine rate for each. A common starting point is $0.50 to $2.00/hour, enough to cover wear, maintenance and the printer's cost over its life.
  4. Under Materials & colors, turn on what you stock, set the price per kg and enable the colors you have. Bambu's official colors are preloaded, and you can add your own.
  5. Under Customer options, set the min, default and max for infill, walls and quantity, and pick which layer heights and support types customers can choose.
  6. Click Save. New quotes use the new settings immediately.

Sharing your quote link

Your page lives at sliceworth.com/s/<your-link-name>. Shop settings has a Share box with a copy button and a QR code you can download. Some places to use it:

Orders, quotes, invoices and shipping (included in Farm; open to all shops during early access)

  1. Create an order. In the dashboard, click Create order on a print request, or reply to a custom request with a quote. The order starts as Quoted.
  2. Send the quote. Each order has private links (Status, Quote, Invoice, Packing slip, Ship receipt) with Copy buttons. If email is set up, use Email quote on the order; otherwise paste the quote link into your own email or message. The link is long and unguessable; anyone with it can see that order, so only send it to the customer.
  3. Customer approves. On the quote page the customer ticks the box and clicks Approve. The order moves to Approved and an invoice with the next invoice number (INV-0001, INV-0002, …) is created. Line items lock once an invoice exists; you can still change tax and shipping.
  4. Get paid. If you connected Stripe (Shop settings → Payments & billing), the invoice shows a Pay online button and the order moves to Paid by itself when the customer pays. Otherwise add your payment instructions under Shop details and click Mark as Paid when the money arrives.
  5. Print and ship. Each order shows one next step button: Mark as Printing, then add the carrier and tracking number and click Mark as Shipped (or Mark as Ready for pickup for local pickup orders). If that step emails the customer, a note under the button says so and you confirm first. Print the packing slip to put in the box.
  6. Done, undo or cancel. Orders move one step at a time. More lets you undo the last step you took (it's removed from the history and no email is sent) or cancel the order. Customer approvals and online payments can't be undone. The customer's status page shows each step once, in order.
  7. No duplicate emails. Each email button shows when it was last sent (for example "Invoice emailed Oct 27, 2:50 PM"). Sending the same email again asks first, and it's blocked for 2 minutes after a send. Redoing a step after an undo doesn't email the customer again unless you choose to.

All documents print cleanly: use Print / Save PDF on the document page and choose "Save as PDF" in your browser's print dialog.

Put the quote form on your own website

In Shop settings, open Embed on your website. Copy one of the two snippets and paste it into your site:

Want your shop name shown above the form? Add data-header="on" to the script tag.

The embedded form shows only your quote form (your site already shows your shop name), with a small "Powered by Sliceworth" link at the bottom. Requests still show up in your dashboard and email as usual. Use Preview to see exactly what visitors will see. Only the quote form can be placed on other sites; your dashboard can't be, for your safety.

Multicolor prints (AMS)

For customers: upload a colored 3MF: a project painted in Bambu Studio, OrcaSlicer or PrusaSlicer, or a 3MF that stores a color per triangle (as many model sites export). The preview shows the file's colors, and you get one dropdown per color, prefilled with the closest filament the shop has in stock. Up to 4 colors can be quoted instantly; for more, send a custom request. You can always tick Print in one color instead. STL files have no colors and are quoted in one color.

The price uses a real multi-filament slice: each color's grams at that filament's price, plus the filament purged at every color change (the prime tower and flushing), plus the printer time, which already includes every swap. Color prints usually take much longer than the same part in one color (the printer may change filament hundreds of times) and use extra filament for purging. The quote shows the colors, the waste and the print time. If a file can't be read in color, you get a one-color price with a note.

For shops: in Shop settings, tick Has AMS for each printer with an AMS or AMS lite (Bambu A1, A1 mini, P1P, P1S, X1 Carbon, H2D), then turn on Multicolor quotes (off by default). You can add an optional fee per color change (default $0). Orders, invoices and packing slips list each color with its filament and grams.

Printers you can offer

Under Printers, turn on the machines you actually run. Quotes are sliced with real OrcaSlicer profiles for: Bambu Lab A1, X1 Carbon, H2D; Prusa MK4 and MINI+; Creality K1, K1C and Ender-3 V3. Customers only see the printers you turn on. Print times for non-Bambu printers come from the stock profile and may differ from your tuned settings. Adjust your machine rate if your times run long or short. Prusa MK4S isn't offered yet: OrcaSlicer doesn't ship a matching print profile for it, but choosing MK4 gives close results.

Downloading models and how long files are kept

When a customer sends a print request, a copy of their model is saved with it. Click Download model on the request to get the STL or 3MF for slicing. Files are kept while the request or order is open and are deleted automatically 30 days after the order is marked Done or Cancelled, so download anything you want to keep. Requests that never become an order lose their files after 90 days. Custom-request photos follow the same rule. Models that only got a quote (never sent to you) are deleted after 30 days.

Custom print requests

Customers without a 3D file can use sliceworth.com/s/<your-link>/custom (also linked from your quote page as "Don't have a file? Request a custom print"). They describe the part and what it's for, give sizes in mm or inches, material and color preferences, a budget range and deadline, and attach up to 5 photos (JPG, PNG or WebP, 10 MB each). Photos are checked, re-saved without location data and shown only to your shop. You can switch the form off under Shop details.

Replying. Each request shows a status: New, Quoted, Declined or Done. To quote, fill in the line items: Description, Qty and Price each. Each line's total is qty × price each, and the total updates as you type (for example 3 × $10 = $30). Click Send quote to customer, check the total and email, then choose Send quote or Save without emailing. The request becomes Quoted, and the card shows when the quote was emailed and a link you can copy. The order then follows the normal order flow. If email isn't set up, or quote emails are off, the quote is saved and you get the link to share yourself. Click Decline to turn a request down; you can tick a box to email the customer a short, polite note (off by default). More lets you mark a request done or reopen it.

Online payments (Stripe)

For shops: connect Stripe

  1. Open your Shop settings → Payments & billing → Connect Stripe.
  2. Stripe opens. Sign in to your Stripe account or create one, then fill in your business and bank details. It's your own Stripe account: money goes straight to you, and you see every payment in your Stripe Dashboard.
  3. When Stripe sends you back, Shop settings shows Connected. If it says Setup not finished, click Resume Stripe setup; Stripe tells you what's missing.

Once you're connected, every approved invoice gets a Pay online button. When the customer pays, the order moves to Paid by itself. Customer payments go straight to your own Stripe account. You pay only Stripe's normal card fees; Sliceworth takes no platform fee on them. Separately, your shop pays Sliceworth a platform subscription for its plan (Free is $0; see Pricing). Refunds and disputes are handled in your Stripe Dashboard. You can keep your own payment instructions (Venmo, cash at pickup) on the invoice as well.

For customers: paying an invoice

After you approve a quote, open your order link and go to Invoice. If the shop takes cards, click Pay online. Stripe's secure checkout opens (we never see your card number). After paying you come back to the order, and it shows Paid within a minute. If you cancel, nothing is charged. If there's no Pay online button, pay the shop as described on the invoice.

FAQ

Which printers are supported?

Bambu Lab A1, A1 mini, P1P, P1S, X1 Carbon and H2D, Prusa MK4 and MINI+, and Creality K1, K1C and Ender-3 V3, using official profiles. Each shop chooses which ones to offer. New shops start with one printer turned on (the Free plan includes 1); turn on more in Shop settings.

What happens to uploaded files?

Models that only got a quote are deleted automatically 30 days after last use. When a customer sends a print request, the shop gets a copy of the model to download and print. It's deleted 30 days after the order is Done or Cancelled (90 days if the request never becomes an order). See model files.

Why did my model fail to slice?

Usually because the mesh isn't watertight, the model is bigger than the printer's bed, or the material can't be printed on that printer. Try another printer, repair the mesh (Bambu Studio and OrcaSlicer can fix most meshes), or contact the shop.

Why can a thicker layer height use more filament?

The official printer profiles set the solid top and bottom skins by layer count with a minimum thickness. At 0.28 mm the top is about 4 × 0.28 = 1.12 mm and the bottom 3 × 0.28 = 0.84 mm solid, while at 0.12 mm both are about 0.6 mm. On flat, wide parts the skins are most of the plastic, so thicker layers can weigh more even though they print faster. This is expected and isn't a pricing error.

Why do small parts all cost the same?

Each shop sets a minimum order. If a job costs less than that to make, the price is raised to the minimum, and the quote says "Minimum order applied" with the real cost. Changing settings won't change the price until the job costs more than the minimum.

What does "Fill the bed" do?

It packs as many copies as fit on one build plate of the chosen printer, up to the shop's maximum quantity, then quotes that number. It's handy for small parts made in batches, and the price per unit is usually lower.

Can I pay or order on this site?

You can request a print and approve the shop's quote online. Payment is arranged directly with the shop for now; online card payment is planned.

Who owns the designs? What about copyrighted models?

Customers must own the file or design, or have permission (for example a license that allows printing), before asking for a print. Shops can refuse any job, including fan art, logos, or models whose license doesn't allow commercial printing. Uploading a model doesn't give the shop or us any rights to it beyond printing your order. See the terms.

I forgot my shop password.

Use Forgot password on the login page. Until email sending is switched on, email [email protected] from the address you signed up with and we'll reset your password by hand after checking it's you.

Can a shop refuse a job?

Yes. Quotes are estimates, not binding offers. A shop can decline any request, for example weapons, files that infringe someone's rights, or anything it can't print safely. See the acceptable use rules.

How do I delete my shop?

Go to Dashboard → Account → Delete shop. This permanently removes your settings, quote history and print requests.

How do customers give a shipping address?

When a customer approves a quote they must enter a shipping address (name, street, city, state, ZIP, country, optional phone), or choose Local pickup if your shop offers it (turn it on in Shop settings → Shop details). The address appears on the order, invoice, packing slip and shipping receipt, and you can edit it in the dashboard.

Does Sliceworth send emails?

Not yet. Email notifications (new requests, quotes, invoices, shipping updates and password resets) are built but switched off. You can already choose which ones your shop wants under Shop settings → Shop details → Email notifications. Until then, copy links from the dashboard and send them yourself.

How do I contact support?

Email [email protected].
